Lately looked like this
The days are going by so quickly – it’s crazy to think that it’s now less than a month before I leave for Cambodia!
This month, I’m….
Eating: Sushi and cereal. (Not together) The office where I’m doing my internship provides free milk, cereal and fruit, so my student-instincts have kicked in and I’m eating cereal for breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner (and I’m absolutely loving it – they have the good granola). Occasionally I’ll mix it up and head to Wasabi for some sushi but I already feel like an integral financial investor in the Japanese food industry, so I’ve had to cut back before I spend my entire travel budget on avocado maki. #lifeishard. (also had some amazing Vietnamese food with Abs! It was so good it’s making me excited to get out there!)
Loving: Les Mis! I went to see Les Miserables at the Queen’s Theatre with my sister for the second time recently and it blew my mind. This time, I managed not to cry during or after the performance (score), but it all still made me feel very emotional (in a good way). I actually got to spend the whole afternoon with my big sis and did our big travel shop in Boots (thrilling). After a traumatic hour, we’re now fully equipped with sun cream, insect repellent and all sorts of things I hope I’ll never need. I also insisted on buying a full bottle of both shampoo and conditioner to take with me, because apparently it’s important for my hair to look nice while I’m running around south east asia bare foot and covered in dirt (;
Feeling: Tired! I honestly can’t remember what it feels like not to be tired – I’m hoping this means that I can sleep all the way through the fifteen hour plane journey to Vietnam, but I’m anxious that if I’m asleep they won’t give me snacks. Might have to appoint Kati to be my snack monitor – she’ll love that! Also feeling a lot of love for my beautiful city – walking across the bridge towards St Paul’s still sends shivers down my spine. I will never get over this city.
Looking like an idiot: outside Harrods. At the moment Harrods have a huge and beautiful series of floral window displays to advertise perfume. My office is right next to Harrods, and I absolutely love looking at all of the displays. I don’t know if I’m going crazy, or if this is really a thing, but I am sure that I can actually smell the perfume which is being advertised when I walk past the windows. I reckon they’ve got scent diffusers attached to each window, but the more I walk past them, the more I think I must just be losing my marbles. In the meantime, I’ll be spending my lunch breaks outside Harrods, sniffing the windows, don’t mind me.
Reading: To Kill a Mockingbird, again. I know that this is one of those books that everybody says is their favourite, but I can definitely see why. I’m reading it for the fourth time since my Dad gave me a copy for my birthday a couple of years ago, and it is honestly a joy to read. I’m so excited for Go Set a Watchman, but I’m unsure what I’ll think of it – sequels to well loved books are always tricky.
I hope you’re having a great week!
