Valentine’s Day Craft.
As you may expect, I did some crafty stuff for Valentine’s Day gifts.
I’m going to do a few quick tutorials, to show you how easy it can be to tell the people that you love that you love them. (But then, admittedly, just saying, “I love you” is probably easier and just as good. Don’t forget to do that too!)
First of all, the 3D Destination effect ‘R’ that I made for Rob.
I saw these on notonthehighstreet.com and thought that they were really cool. Unfortunately, they were also £40+ and I would literally have to choose between malaria tablets and a giant 3D letter. Although letters are cool. So I decided to make my own.
What you’ll need:
I found this cardboard ‘R’ in Tiger and I used strips of map paper and book pages for the papier mache.
Mix up some PVA glue with a few drops of water, and begin painting the R adding strips of paper as you go. Use enough glue to secure the paper, and then paint over the top to create a solid effect. Make sure that all the strips overlap and there’s no white space! Once you’re happy, leave to dry. You can now add another layer of paper, or another layer of glue if you feel that it’s needed.
Now you have a letter that looks like this. To add a sweet sentiment, and emphasise the travel theme, I used a few extra bits and pieces.
I cut out two felt hearts, and used these Flag pins which are also from Tiger. (I already have visions of them on a pin board, marking an old school map-route of my travels!)
I stuck in destination markers for you and me and then used Sharpie to draw a windy route connecting the two.
That really is it!
Very fun and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. I hope Rob likes it!
I hope you all had a lovely day,
